Short&Sweet: 1 Peter | Blogfromthebelly11

Good evening world! It has been a long time. As it always seems to be when I come to my computer to write. Since my last post, there has been quite a bit of…unforeseen happenings happening. And as human nature would predict – I haven’t been utilizing the optimal methods of processing that I should be: reading (the Bible), praying, exercising and eating healthy (just a CONSTANT struggle), painting, or writing about these life experiences to help point myself and others to God’s word. I haven’t been doing much of any of that, for quite a while. If anyone else out there is in a similar boat…I hope that you will get the extra OOMPH you need to start getting back on track soon. Or to get on track for the first time maybe? What qualifies as “on track”? Thankfully we can find the means to answer that question and others like it in God’s word. Tonight I read 1 Peter, which I have not read in what feels like eons.

1 Peter is really some quality reading material. If you haven’t read it, haven’t read it in a long time, or are just looking for a place to start to help get out of a funk…I highly recommend it. I think 1 Peter is a really well-rounded book, full of important content about abiding in Christ and living out God’s will for us. It’s short enough to read in one night if you want, long enough to break up into chapters and go through more slowly, and in my opinion…it can speak to your heart wherever you are at on your faith journey.

So rather than rambling on much longer this time…I just want to suggest reading 1 Peter as a way to spend a little of your time after you read this post. I promise you won’t regret it. I hope the words will meet you wherever you’re at and provide reminders of what it means to walk with Christ, while giving some encouragement to do just that.

Until next time…

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

1 Peter 1: 3-9
