WWJD | BlogFromTheBelly7

I have not been writing as often lately because of all the chaotic, heart breaking, unbelievable happenings that are happening all around us right now. That being said, there are a lot of beautiful things happening as well. There is an abundance of current news for all of us to keep up with, so I don’t think anyone is struggling with a shortage of reading material. My last post was categorized (in my mind) as a separate ordeal, more of a journal entry as it’s title implies rather than a part of my blog. I was feeling all sorts of ways about how we so undeniably fall short when it comes to loving one another.

Over the past month or so we have seen people all over the world coming together to fight for change in our world that is long overdue. If you have only been watching stories that appear on the news or through impersonal media outlets, I strongly urge you to seek out photos/videos/stories that come from someone you know. A friend, or a friend of a friend, or some person your friend’s cousin knows. Find people who you know are actually out there walking, or actually experiencing the events the news stations are talking about. We’re in the midst of the largest civil rights movement in history and it’s happening, whether you like it or not. Please seek out various sources (public news and personal connections) to gather information.

There are a lot of news articles and social media posts circulating about absolutely horrific things happening to people: police officers killing POC and racist individuals committing various hate crimes. Whether or not you believe these stories, whatever side you are on, whatever opinion you are forming or already have formed…injustice exists in our world. Whether ALL the accusations against many police officers are true or not, there are accusations that are true. The injustices are happening, the horrific treatment of human beings by law enforcement and other people is happening. The fact that this happens in any capacity should be enough to stir something in your heart.

One thing I know for certain is that Christians are called to act out of love, always. This can be really difficult when huge issues like racism are being *debated* because this is an issue of how human beings value and love one another. The fact that racism is even being debated or justified boggles my mind, but I am challenging myself to come from a place of love and PRAY for all of us.

So…I am sure I will continue posting less frequently for the time being. There is just too much to read, too much to think about, too much to pray about and find a way to contribute to…too much to process.

I hope that you will find your place in all this. Whether it’s praying vigorously for the world, walking mile after mile every day with others who are screaming for a fair and just world, or making a personal commitment to be more self-aware of how you yourself treat people who don’t look like you. WWJD?

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
